Great Exposure!

Makes my proud Icelandic Heart beat a little faster when i see stuff like this on websites like Style.com:)

Boutique Unique London, the U.K. creative agency responsible for bringing the best of Icelandic beauty to its equally vitamin-D starved shores, has inked a deal with New York-based import/export company Beauty Prophet LLC, to bring the Land of Fire and Ice to North Americans seeking Scandinavian skincare secrets. The brands set to arrive here as early as January, according to a report in Cosmetics Business, include Tœr Icelandic, a holistic skincare regimen packed with organic herbs, essential oils, vitamins, and minerals and Dr. Jón Bragi Bjarnason’s eponymous line, designed around a cold-adapted aquatic enzyme that he discovered in the diverse marine life of Iceland’s famed waters. Now if only we could figure out how to bottle the country’s Norse heritage (read: tall, blond genes) and ready it for export as well…
(I just put a pic of Claudia there for fun...she´s tall and blonde after all..)

First lady of France-and Fashion

The supermodel singer/songwriter, 39, on the art of couture, and keeping it simple

My dream is to have a pretty little daughter that I can dress up. I bought a lovely shirt and pants from Ralph Lauren for my little son, and of course it was disgusting in one minute. And I am coming from Italy, where men really dress up. Boys here are a lost cause. When I was little I remember my mother walking in to say goodnight in these beautiful gowns before she went out to the opera, and it was those moments that made me love fashion, because she looked like a princess. When you're a little girl, you're really like a little boy. But I remember getting my first feminine swimsuit when I was seven years old. I finally felt like a girl.I've always needed my clothes to feel feminine since. I'm not at all the androgynous type. When I was young, I admired Jane Birkin and Audrey Hepburn. They are always the icons of us flat-breasted girls, because they are so sexy, even without breasts. When I was 15 years old I wished I had a Brigitte Bardot body, but at the same time there was something elegant about Audrey Hepburn that Bardot never had. Even before I started modelling, I realised that the petite beauty ages well. It seemed fantastic to be crazily sexy like Monroe with the hair and the hips, but there is something more lasting in being thin and elegant. I admire elegance over ultra-flashiness. Through modelling I learned how to use my body. I don't think anyone can teach you to have style though. Either you have it or you don't. I've never really had it. The modelling made me realise that you can't buy style. It's something personal and private. The total head-to-toe designer look is ridiculous. It's the opposite of fashion. A matching bag and shoe and hat makes you look like a Christmas tree. And I would never wear shoulder pads. Or pointy shoes. Or skinny jeans. Or low-waisted trousers. You take away the hips and waist - the best bits! Models are pretty girls, but it's rare that they stand out. Not like someone like Björk, who has an incredible style. She is like a beautiful little elf. I would never dare to dress like her though. I admire Marianne Faithfull's style, too. When I finished writing all this music about English poetry I asked her to be my English teacher. We'd record our lessons, and sometimes I'd put the tape on pause when we talked about Mick Jagger, or love, or desire, or complications. The lessons would be about Yeats, and Emily Dickinson, then all of a sudden you hear me reach for the pause button when something exciting comes up. I can really feel it on the tape, and I'm smacking myself for not recording it! I don't change for men. I never felt power or fame was important when you're in love. When you have a relationship with someone they become only a man. If they are talented of course it's better, but still, a man is only a man. Intimacy removes all the social stuff around a person. It makes them naked. All the fashion made me more simple. I had to deal with all this sophistication every day, and it made me over-relaxed in the evenings. I don't go for heels, I never wear make-up. It only seems to enhance age. I love fashion though. I love designers. I love Yves Saint Laurent. He was the first to mix up black and blue. He was the first to mix up red and pink! It was just not done. He had a wonderful garden in Morocco, full of red and pink roses, and he said to himself, 'Nature does it, and so can I'! And he put red dresses with pink belts. It was a fashion mistake before he tried it. People believed the colours would kill each other, but the way he used it was so beautiful, and ageless. I also love crazy designers like Gaultier. When I saw his couture it was, like, breathtaking! I was awakened by it. And I used to love doing Thierry Mugler's shows. They were crazy. Diana Ross would be there, and everyone would be dressed in vanilla leather, and for some reason, just the ambiance I suppose, we would all go wild. The woman he designed for was very strong, and sexy and bossy, and we all became her when we modelled the clothes. I love John Galliano, too, for the universe he brings to his designs. When you'd walk in for a fitting, he'd explain for hours where the dress was coming from, while you stood there, patiently cupping your breasts. I loved going from one designer to the other, changing the style, and following their visions. Dolce & Gabbana were always trying to bring back the Sicilian woman, voluptuous and sexy and bright and luxurious, while Valentino liked things perfect and seductive. It was hard work, but never boring. When I did my last show for Yves Saint Laurent I asked them to give me a couture dress instead of payment. From the front it's very nice and proper. No décolleté. It's long, very simple, high-necked - you can hardly wear a necklace, but from the back it's all open. My mother was shocked when she saw me wearing it. The contrast - it makes you gasp.

(Because I love her Music and fashion sence...)

Alien

Interesting and totally quirky faces have always had an impact on me.
But how do we feel about these "alien"esque faces of the fashion world today?
Bug Eyed and totally otherworldy, some of these girls look like they were made up in a lab - or better yet- in photoshop.
But , non!
Opinions?

Lovin the Cover

I know this cover is old news, but I´m so in love with the colors, the stare, the orange vs. the violet, all of it.

One of the best Vogue Covers in Years, I think I´ll have to say.

Good Jooooob:)

Cool Face

Fell in love with her face. Loving that strong nose, thick eyebrows and sad mouth. Gorgeous hair as well.
(Kris, I know I´m ultra predictable-but did the Paris woman look something like this?)

Coco for YSL Beauty!

Talking about Sharp and Angular. Perfect use of the light.

I usually don´t like Coco Rocha, facially, but she def works for this.

Fierce!

La Vie en Rose-Marion for Dior

Marion Cotillard, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of French songbird Edith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose,” was taken high above Paris for her latest role: as the face of a “cinematic” new campaign for the Lady Dior handbag. Perched on top of the Eiffel Tower, its intricate metalwork echoing the canework pattern on the iconic tote, Cotillard posed for photographer Peter Lindbergh wearing an enigmatic expression — and a sexy black number by John Galliano from the spring collection. The spots are slated to break at month’s end in France and the U.K. and are the first in a four-part series, with Paris being only the first city and chapter. Further details about her next adventure, and what precious cargo she’s carrying, are to be revealed on a forthcoming Web site: LadyDior.com, which is set to go live in mid-November. The campaign will run twice a year.
(personally im more into face shots, but this is kind of scary, like she´s about to fall...if you haven´t seen La Vie en Rose, go see it!)

What a Comeback for Claudia!

As you’ve no doubt heard, Claudia Schiffer is the new face of YSL Beauty. Schiffer traveled West to be shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in the Hollywood Hills, where the house’s creative team made genius use of the sign’s Y, then echoed in the buttery caramel Easy bag dangling off her arm. We also particularly love this shot, a Style.com exclusive, for its witty synthesis of icons—the Hollywood sign, the house of Yves Saint Laurent, and yes, our favorite German über-model. This image is one of a few that may grace the cover of the house’s fourth Manifesto leaflet advert, to be passed out on Valentine’s Day

Madonna for LV

MADONNA AND MARC: When Marc Jacobs found himself in a meeting on a recent Monday morning to brainstorm about Louis Vuitton’s next fashion advertising campaign, inspiration struck. “I just blurted out, ‘I think we should do Madonna,’” said the designer, Vuitton’s creative director, mentioning he’d attended a concert by the pop icon the night before in Paris. “I was totally just blown away by it, and moved by her performance, by what she had to say, and her energy.”As the meeting went on, Jacobs tapped out a message to Madonna on his BlackBerry, and within about five minutes came the reply: “I’d love to.”The result is six atmospheric pictures of a smoldering Madonna by Steven Meisel that will break in a range of fashion magazines in February. “It’s a big change from what we were doing. It tells a story,” said Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications. “This I think is an amazing coup, but more than that, there’s real logic behind it. It’s very linked to Marc’s fashion show.”Although Arnault declined to give figures, he said media budgets for the fashion campaign would be on par with a year ago. And he dismissed as “absurd” reports pegging Madonna’s fees at $10 million. “It’s very far away from that,” he assured. The campaign marks the end of Vuitton’s six-year collaboration with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with the parting characterized as amicable, and another reunion for long-time collaborators Madonna and Meisel. Jacobs last worked with Meisel in his Perry Ellis days. (Arnault noted it’s “very probable” Vuitton’s association with Meisel will continue.)The campaign takes the very Parisian theme of Jacobs’ hit spring Vuitton collection, with a smoky French bistro the setting, and the sepia-toned images evoking a Brassai atmosphere. “As cliché as they are, I love all these French references,” the designer said. (Although the restaurant, Figaro, is on North Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles).“I still feel it looks like beautiful, gorgeous Madonna,” Jacobs said about the images. “Excepting the references and excepting the clichés, this still feels very today. And it didn’t feel so much like a fashion shoot, it feels like portraits.”The shoot wrapped up in less than a day and without incident, although Jacobs said hordes of paparazzi literally “appeared out of the bushes” the moment Madonna arrived. “It went from a quiet street to complete chaos,” he said. The designer also marveled at the singer’s incredible fitness that allowed her to recline, her back arched, on bentwood chairs, or shoot a leg straight up in the air, no sweat. “She’s so sure of herself as an icon and as a woman. It was her idea to do the fishnets,” Jacobs said. “What fascinates me the most about her is her never-ending energy, and the idea of becoming and changing. She’s an artist who’s unafraid to use her voice.”Arnault said the fashion campaign would appear “very strongly” in February and March issues and with few changes in media placements. “We’re staying on target,” he stressed. The first visuals will spotlight slouchy bags in monogram canvas and monogram-embossed leather, along with ethnic-inspired sandals, bangles and sexy ready-to-wear. In tandem, Vuitton will continue to run its “core values” campaign, with spots featuring Sean Connery, the latest celebrity spokesman, continuing into next year. Analysts have estimated Vuitton spends more than $250 million annually on advertising, most of it print-driven.
